Junk Journal Retreat - 3 fabulous days of book making and Art Journaling
Junk Journal Journey Retreat
In the Junk Journal Journey workshop every step on this journey is a discovery process.
Turn everyday items into your very own book of masterpieces! In Making a Junk Journal, we will share how to collect items from around your home, and bind it together to create a book for your art journal spreads, small pieces of art, drawings and writings.
We will gather Nice papers, watercolor paper, cardstock and the raiding of your recycle bin, craft closet and other little nooks and crannies of your home to get what we need for our books, We will recycle a shopping bag, or cereal boxes into a cover. Then assemble your own signatures, and bind it all together. Then add your artistic touch and create several spreads using ephemera, paint, illustrations, image transfers, and more. Whether your junk journal is a place for memory keeping or simply a creative outlet, at the end of this class, you'll have the skills to turn any found item into a personalized piece of art.
We will start our first day with gathering up some junk and stuff.
With these interesting materials we will be putting all the bits together to create a few different styles of journal books that we will use throughout the rest of this exploration into book binding, junk journal, art creating and so much more. It is not just a practical exercise but a way for you to hear the stirrings of inspiration in your creativity.
On the second day we begin to create. We will present many techniques and art products you can use in your books. We will share ideas and show lots of samples. There will be so many surprises for you on this day.
On our last day together you’ll have the opportunity to choose and explore a theme to bring to life through your junk journal or you may choose to be less focused in your exploration to experiment with the expression of your vision. And then we do some celebrating & sharing of our work.
In the end we will create a Junk Journal that is uniquely yours, one that expresses your vision and style! We will prep pages for the small pieces of art we will be creating in our books.
